Nature Consultant and Data Analyst
Nature Positive is seeking a mid-career Nature Consultant & Data Analyst to join our small, specialist consultancy working at the interface of ecology, biodiversity assessment, nature investment, and nature positive economies.
This permanent role will suit an applied ecologist with strong ecological knowledge, sound project management skills, and confidence working with ecological data. The position has three main areas of focus: managing a portfolio of projects, analysing ecological information to support clear recommendations, and designing pragmatic ecological surveys and monitoring approaches across a range of contexts.
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate qualification in life sciences, ecology, geography, or a related field, plus at least five years of relevant professional experience. Experience in nature-related consultancy for business and finance with the technical field of ecological impact assessment and biodiversity monitoring will be highly valued.
We are looking for someone who is a strategic thinker, a strong collaborator, and comfortable working in a small, creative team. You will need to be confident communicating with clients, partner organisations, and technical specialists, and able to balance scientific rigour with practical, real-world application. Familiarity with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS is expected. Experience with statistics, data management systems, Nature Tech, and the integration of ecological with social and economic information would be an advantage.

We offer a competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience, a 37.5-hour standard working week, five weeks’ annual leave and flexible hours. Our main office is based in Otepoti Dunedin.
