Our services

Corporate nature strategy and action plans
Developing credible nature strategies that deliver on multiple sustainability agendas.
We design feasible nature action plans using the ‘avoid-reduce-regenerate’ hierarchy to set companies on a path to transform their value-chains to a nature positive status.
We are proud to have supported leading companies in New Zealand’s agricultural, energy, infrastructure and extractive sectors to develop ambitious strategies for nature that are both credible and feasible.

Monitoring, Reporting and Verification
We are specialists in MRV systems, selecting the right metrics to track performance outcomes for biodiversity, water, carbon, soil and people.
Our past projects include designing an integrated carbon and biodiversity monitoring system for Paracel – a mixed production and conservation forestry project in Paraguay. This system was created to meet international lender and premium voluntary carbon market standards.
We also developed a tool with Winstone Aggregates to verify the trajectory towards biodiversity net positive by aggregating outcomes of all regulatory and voluntary ecological restoration projects.

Applied research
Conducting applied research to design the tools necessary to build a nature positive future.
In the past, we supported the World Bank in selecting the innovative finance mechanisms for scaling up restoration investments globally as part of their leadership in the UN Decade on Ecological Restoration Finance Task Force.
We have also worked with the Kā Waimaero Ngāi Tahu Research Centre to scope an agribusiness investor portal to easily interpret complex data sets on real-time place-based impacts on climate, water and biodiversity of commodity production models.
Additionally, we worked with Beef & Lamb NZ to develop the FarmSalus tool to assess agri-business resilience through the lens of farmer wellbeing.

Greening finance and financing green
Advising equity or debt investors on nature risks or verification of outcomes, preparing investment cases and designing screening frameworks.
We regularly advise a number of multilateral and bilateral investors on the nature risks and opportunities of their investments at the screening, investment decision and supervision stages.
We have developed impact investment frameworks and project cases for Nature-based Solutions funds to verify biodiversity, carbon and community outcomes in alignment with global best practice principles and Standards.

TNFD and SBTN
Guiding companies to apply the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures guidelines or set Science Based Targets for Nature.
We have the facilitation, and data analysis skills to apply either framework to companies with diverse range of value-chains, taking the pain out of the process.
Our approach is to go beyond disclosures and use these frameworks’ focus on material nature risks and opportunities to engage company leaders and staff to create a nature strategy that builds value.
We are proud to support Lyttelton Port Company be the only TNFD early adopter in NZ committed to making the first nature disclosures in 2024.
Our connection
Nature Positive is an active TNFD forum member and Corporate Engagement Partner of SBTN. Nature Positive staff have contributed to the development of both frameworks.
We coordinate the Australia-New Zealand SBTN Working Group.

Building collaborative partnerships
We actively seek opportunities to build partnerships and collaborations to scale nature action.
We leverage our trusted relationships to connect clients with community groups, iwi, investors, conservation organisations, peer companies and more.

Bespoke services
Listening to our clients’ business case for nature, their needs and capacities, we can co-design any bespoke service leveraging our core expertise.
